The Spirit of the Gulf: Discovering a territory between land and sea

The Gulf of Morbihan doesn't reveal its secrets at first glance. It's a shifting landscape, a "little sea" where the tides dictate the rhythm of the day. Here, luxury lies not in ostentation, but in the rarity of silence, the purity of light on the

or the privilege of discovering a secluded cove. For those visiting our region, the essential thing is to take the time to feel the soul of these preserved places.

1. Island hopping

The Gulf is a labyrinth of land and water. While Île aux Moines and Île d'Arz are must-see stops for their coastal paths and flower-filled fishermen's houses, there are dozens of other, more discreet islets that can only be discovered by sailing.

  • The Serenity approach: Whether you prefer the silhouette of a traditional sailboat or the comfort of a motorboat, we can organize your sea trip. The ideal? Departing at the end of the day to watch the sun sink below the horizon, a drink in hand, as the Gulf regains its absolute calm.

2. From Vannes to Arzon: the faces of the Gulf

Each shore of the Gulf has its own character. Vannes, the medieval city, welcomes you with its ramparts and perfectly manicured gardens. Heading down towards Arradon, the headlands offer unique panoramic views of the currents. Further south, the Rhuys peninsula and Arzon mark the entrance to the Gulf, where the waters of the Atlantic rush in with power.

  • Things to do: Stroll through the local markets, walk along the coastal path (GR34) or simply watch the boats go by from a terrace in Port-Navalo.

3. Escape to the "Open Sea"

While the Gulf is a protective haven, the adventure continues just beyond the channels. In a few miles, the horizon opens onto the islands of the Ponant archipelago. Belle-Île-en-Mer , aptly named, impresses with its jagged cliffs and colorful harbors. Houat and Hoëdic, more rugged and authentic, offer vast stretches of fine sandy beaches and a complete escape from the world, far from any car traffic.

4. Oyster culture and the taste of authenticity

You can't understand Morbihan without meeting those who work with the sea. Oyster farms dot the coastline, particularly around Baden and Larmor-Baden.

  • The real moment: There's nothing more authentic than enjoying a few oysters directly from a producer, at the end of a dirt road, facing the oyster beds that are revealed at low tide. It's this luxury of simplicity that makes a stay here so worthwhile.

The Gulf of Morbihan is much more than a geographical destination; it's a true haven of peace, calm, and tranquility. It is precisely around these fundamental values that we decided to create Serenity . Our mission is to share this art of living with second-home owners and the renters who come to visit us. Our role is to enhance the Gulf experience: to ease tension, promote a return to calm, and sweep away stress, leaving only one emotion: Serenity .
